Sports and Jump Jam

Getting ready for Bat Down

Jump Jam leaders on stage.

Every Thursday the Dynamic dragons have been doing a sports rotation.  There are three different sports: Bat Down, Scatterball and Dodgeball.  Bat Down is played with about 5 people.  There is a batter, bowler, wicket keeper and 2 or more fielders.  The bowler bowls 6 balls underarm, trying to hit the bat.  Once the batter hits it, the fielders get the ball and try to roll it towards the bat and hit it.  Batters can only face 6 balls until everyone changes in a clockwise position.  Its great fun.

We also do Jump Jam with the Dynamic Dragons every Monday and Friday.   We usually do about three or four songs and follow the jump jam leaders with the actions.  It can be hard work!

Today we had Wacky hat day at school to raise money for Cure Kids and Jenna.  We all made our own unique wacky hats and shared them at the parade.

What to do in an Earthquake?

We had an earthquake drill at UHPS this week.  Room 16 made this reminder so we can remember what to do if there is an earthquake while we are at school.

Cycle Safety Training

Last week we had Cycle Safety training with Big Foot adventures.  We learnt how to do safety checks on our bikes, then played heaps of fun games on our bikes to learn how to signal and ride safely.

The perfect stop challenge.

City Structures Trip

We had an amazing time at the Dynamic Dragons Skytower trip.  First we had morning tea, and took photo's of structures around Silo Park.  Then it was off to the skytower to admire the view and see the fireproof room.  After that we went to Victoria Park for lunch, and finally we stopped under the Harbour Bridge. Whew!

Swimming Sports

The freezing water surrounded me like an arctic blanket......

On Wednesday this week we had our UHPS swimming sports.  Everyone had a great time with the fun races, and congratulations to the Room 16 swimmers who made finals!

Amazing Art!

This week we studied Raewyn Harris and her amazing Koru Art.  We learnt about what the Koru represent, the difference between hot and cold colours, and also how to blend colours using pastels.  Then we created our own incredible Koru Artwork.  Some are still being finished, but call into Room 16 to check them out.
